For my birthday, two of my lovely friends bought me a session with a colour consultant to work out “my colours”.
The colours are divided into four seasons: summer (cool, muted), autumn (warm, muted), winter (cool, pure) and spring (warm, clear). Your “colours” = the season featuring the colours you look best in. Read more about it here.
I first read about the concept many moons ago and have since been speculating as to which season I am.
Ready to discover my colours!
The consultant holds swatches of colours against your skin. She tries various shades and tones in the same colour and analyses the effect they each have on your skin to find the one that best complements your natural colouring.
My speculations proved right! No doubts from the consultant that I am a “winter” – my natural colouring is high contrast (pale skin, light eyes, dark hair) meaning I look best in strong, pure, colours that are cool, cool, cool. Anything warm does not look very good on me.
Ready for some makeup in my colours.
Trying out some super bright colours… because, why not?
That’s a lot of pink! These are some of my colours (I’m not permitted to post the full swatch). If you are in Perth and want to get your colours done, here are the details:
80 Barrack St, Perth WA 6000

Afterward, we had some lunch at Gordon St Garage.
All in all, it was a perfect day. And I’m SUPER excited to use my new found knowledge of my colours to inform well-suited ethical fashion choices. YAY.
