With my Mum living about five hours south of where I live in Perth, I was super happy to hear she was coming up for Mothers’ Day weekend. So I did what all good daughters do and bought her tickets to an event that I wanted to go to: a Fairtrade high tea hosted by OxfamUWA and Enactus UWA. My university, the University of Western Australia, is a Fairtrade university.
The high tea last Saturday 11 May coincided with the day before Mothers’ Day and also happened to coincide with the day after I completed Live Below the Line 2013. My Mum loves mother/daughter time and she loves tea (and she is also super supportive of my Fairtrade-inclinations) so she obliged. Thanks, Mum.
Needless to say, Mum and I were both stuffed full by the end of the afternoon (and very pleased with the purchase I made from the Fair Trade Pop Up Shop!
Tea, coffee, sugar, and chocolate were Fairtrade. Baked treats were made from Fairtrade ingredients.
We didn’t win the raffle. :(
